I’ve always had a love of food and have been lucky enough to spend the last 40 years building my career in a field that I am still passionate about.
After completing a 2-year catering course at technical college, I cut my teeth working in a kitchen run and operated by Gary Rhodes. Fresh out of full-time education, providing a la carte nouvelle cuisine at a fine dining establishment was certainly a steep learning curve! It was an enjoyable and eye-opening experience, and I am thoroughly grateful for the knowledge I developed during my time there.
In the years following this I built a wide variety of experience: From preparing and serving up to 2,000 meals per day for the Hilton Hotel Group; to cooking in much lower volume and serving high-profile attendees of film shoots, music videos and television commercials as part of a location catering service.
Ultimately though, I found my calling in catering for the care sector. Before joining Go! Catering, I spent 20 years as the Head Chef in an Elderly Care Home – managing the menu planning, purchasing, staffing and all other aspects of kitchen control. Since moving on to join Go! Catering in 2018, I have taken great pleasure in further increasing the quality of food and found real enjoyment in serving meals to young children… even if they do provide some of the most honest feedback I’ve received to date!
